International Women’s Day

Over the past couple of months, our news outlets have been inundated with incredible stories of the bravery of women facing sexual assault, inequality and gender pay gap issues. Now, more than ever, women need to stand together, stand up and fight for gender parity. Friends, family, acquaintances and colleagues are in the fight to #PressForProgress and now it’s YOUR turn to get involved.

On the 1st March 2018, the world will join together for International Women’s Day and collectively celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world, as well as demanding that the world sits up and listens to the need for accelerating gender parity across the globe.

What colour should I wear?

The colour purple is internationally recognised as the colour that symbolises women, however, much like the women of the WSP in 1908,  the combination of purple, green and white can be used to symbolise women’s equality; purple signifies justice and dignity, green symbolises hope and white represents purity, however, due to its controversial nature, white has been replaced by yellow, representing a ‘new dawn’ of feminism.

What will Women in Healthcare be doing to celebrate?

We are incredibly proud to announce that we are hosting an event with a top international organisation to celebrate International Women’s Day! It will be a chance for women all over the country to come together and celebrate the achievements of women and push for action towards gender parity! For now, that’s all we can share, however, we would love to hear about your ideas for the day! Some examples may include what we should cover, who should be there and what added extras would you like to see?
